Queens of the Stone Age have confirmed that their ninth album, Perfecth, will be released on 30 October via Matador Records.
The band shared a new single, Insignificant Other, on Sunday, accompanied by a Chapman Baehler-directed video starring Big Chongus as the embodiment of "perfecth".
Frontman Joshua Homme said: "It's a song about distance. About how someone can be your entire world only to simply vanish. And about the strange vertigo of being on the receiving end of that."
The track is the second of only two takes and captures the quintet playing loose and unguarded. The album notably features a re-recording of Sunday from Homme's Iggy Pop collaborative album Post Pop Depression.
Perfecth was produced by Homme and band member Michael Shuman, with sessions tracked everywhere from New Orleans to Los Angeles. Homme said: "Every song sounds like it's from a different world. And that's on purpose, because it's trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that."
The record's nine songs map different forms of love: of family, friends, and others. The loves that break you and the loves that bring you back.
On the album's deliberately misspelled title, Homme said: "Nothing in this world is perfect, but everything seems to be 'perfecth'."
Perfecth will be available on CD, standard black vinyl, on clear vinyl at indie retailers, and as a limited deluxe edition. The deluxe edition is a gatefold LP package including handwritten lyrics, stationery, stamps housed inside a custom envelope and a bespoke piece of art.
The album follows 2023's In Times New Roman, with the band having shared the initial preview of Perfecth in July via the single Easy Street featuring Nikki Lane.
