Phoebe Bridgers will release her third album Lost Weekend on 14 August via Dead Oceans, but fans can hear it early at planetariums across the world from Monday, the label confirmed on Thursday.
The events will take place across more than 40 planetariums in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, with multiple screenings scheduled at select locations through 14 August. UK and Ireland venues include Armagh Observatory and Planetarium in Northern Ireland and Glasgow Science Centre in Scotland.
Each listening session pairs the album with one of two original visual accompaniments: a custom dome show designed by night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi, or an immersive laser show designed by Laser Fantasy, with both presentations offering their own atmospheric perspective that turns the album's first listen into a shared sonic and visual experience, according to a press release.
The events will be phone and camera free, with all phones, smartwatches, recording and filming devices secured in Yondr pouches. Bridgers described the sessions as "Come listen to the album field trip style".
Participating venues include Chicago's Adler Planetarium, San Francisco's Morrison Planetarium, Paris' Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie and Melbourne Planetarium. Ticket prices vary by location, with most venues charging around $25 or equivalent.
Lost Weekend is Bridgers' first solo record since 2020's Punisher and has been previewed by lead single Lost Boys. Following the album's release, Bridgers will take Lost Weekend on the road with The Lost Tour, her first solo headlining trek in several years, which is already completely sold out across the US and UK.
Over 300 midnight album release parties will take place worldwide on 13 August, allowing fans to listen to Lost Weekend for the first time together.
