Evolution Festival Promises A Bank Holiday To Remember!

This may be the first time I’ve heard of the Evolution Festival, but this event has been making big waves in the North East, and has become a popular event in the Newcastle/Gateshead area. Since 2005 it has also garnered a reputation for discovering future household names, and attracting some big name talent to the event over the years. So I guess now the question is, what have the team behind the festival got in store for 2010? Read on to find out!

2010 will see the return of the main stage at Spillers Wharf, which will kick off the festival with a Scottish flavour on Sunday May 30th. Paolo Nutini will perform, alongside the talented Calvin Harris. They will be joined on-stage by rap star Tinchy Stryder, some glorious indie from The Futureheads, and sets from Frankie and The Heart Strings, Twenty Twenty, and others. Then on Monday the Spiller stage will rock to the sounds of Post Hardcore from Enter Shikari, NME favourites The Horrors, Hip Hop act De La Soul, and Ellie Goulding.

If that wasn’t enough, there is a full line-up of talent all ready and waiting to take to the Baltic Stage over the weekend, so if you want to check out the line-up at the Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art, then you might just spot one or all of the following: Fake Blood, Filthy Dukes, Eskimo Twins, Delphic, Frankmusik, Lonelady, and Mirrors.

Two stages, and two eclectic line-ups of musical talent, but how about a third? Ok then, here’s all the details of the new Ballast Hill Stage, perfect for all those looking for some laid back folk/roots music. For it’s inauguration into the festival there will be sets from The Unthanks, John Smith, Po Girl and James Hunter And The Jokers on the Sunday, and on the Monday, Slow Club, Danny And The Champions Of The World, and Ben Howard.

All this and much more by the Quayside in Gateshead, so if the Evolution Festival sounds like your kind of Bank Holiday fun then tickets are onsale now. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the best news, a weekend pass to the event costs just £25! They do like their bargains up North, so why don’t you surf on over to www.evolutionfestival.co.uk and snap yours up now before they all sell out!
