Two UK Based Bands up for Ivor Novellos

Two UK bands, Plan B and Everything Everything who are based in Manchester, have both received nominations for the Ivor Novello Awards.

Everything Everything who have not even had a top 40 UK single and the well known artist Plan B have received nominations for an award for songwriting.

Plan B, was of the recent big hits within the UK is a solo artist whos real name is Benjamin Drew; as well as having numerous top selling hits, he has also featured in numerous films. He has been nominated for Best Album for The Defamation of Strickland Banks and he has also received a second nomination for most performed song for She Said.

Manchester band Everything Everything have received a nomination for best album with their album Man Alive and they have also been nominated for releasing best song with their track My Kz, Ur Bf.

The prestigious awards will be held in London on the 19th May, Plan B and Everything Everything have both expressed their delight and thanks for the nominations. Everything Everything are said to be hugely flattered for receiving the nomination, especially as they are yet to enter the charts with their material.

In the battle to win the Best Song category, Everything Everything will face tough competition, they will face seeing off Foals’, Spanish Sahara and Becoming a Jackal which was released by the Irish band the Villagers. In 2010, the band Everything Eveyrhting were longlisted for the BBC’s Sound of 2010 music list. The two other bands with nominations, The Villagers and Foals were both nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2010.

The best album category also holds stiff competition with the popular band Bombay Bicycle Club being featured, their album, Flaws reached number eight in the UK charts in the summer of 2010.

The 2010 Mecury Prize winners The XX have also received a nomination at the awards, they have been nominated for the best contemporary song. They also face tough competition against Katy B with Katy on a Mission and Tinie Tempah with his single Pass Out.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London, other awards which will be presented include the prize for outstanding song collection, international achievement and the outstanding achievement to British music award.
