The British music industry is adding their tributes to the American singer and actress Whitney Houston after she sadly passed away at the young age of forty eight. Houston, who was arguably one of the biggest music stars in the world, was found dead in her hotel room in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Sir Elton John spoke out saying it was a very sad day and the music industry has lost a beautiful voice; he also complemented Houston as being the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Brian Grant who has previously been the director of numerous of Houston’s videos stated that in her early career Houston was a shy and unassuming young woman. Although he also stated that when she stood in front of a camera and sang the real Whitney emerged.

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke was one of many to pay tribute to the star through Twitter. Burke described Whitney Houston as being a hero and stated she had been a major influence on her life.

Simon Cowell has also paid his tributes to Whitney Houston by stating she was the best singer of all time. The singer featured on the television show the X Factor in 2009 and was reportedly being lined up to work on this years show. For Cowell, Whitney Houston was the benchmark and the artist who most contestants wanted to emulate.
