The year of 2012 seems to be the year for bands to reunite and yet another announcement has been made to prove this point. Recently it was reported that S Club 7 would be reuniting after signing a record deal and now it has been announced that the Sugababes are reuniting.
The original Sugabaes line up have secured a million pound record deal in order to started their comeback.
The band which is made up of original members including Mutya Buena aged 26, Siobhan Donaghy aged 27 and Keisha Buchanan aged twenty 27, have singed up with Polydor Records to make their comeback. Current artists that are also signed with Polydor include Take That and Lady GaGa.
Whilst the band will be making a comeback they will not be using the Sugababes name to front the band.
A music industry insider stated that the band had been working on new material all year with some high profile producers. Polydor Records have started picking the songs that they would like to feature on the new album that will be released.
The band originally formed in 1998 and they were an instant hit with fans; one of their most popular songs was Overload.
In 2001 Siobham left the band and she was replaced by Heidi Range. In 2005 Mutya then decided to quit the band and she was replaced by Amelle Berrabah. In 2009 the only original band member left, Keisha decided to leave and she was replaced by the British Eurovision contestant Jade Ewen.
The UK music industry clearly feel that the band still has the ability to be popular after they were signed by a record company.
