Spice Girls Musical ‘Viva Forever’ To End Next Month

It was revealed today that The Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever! will come to a close next month.

Written by Jennifer Saunders, the musical features songs from the pop bands back catalouge will finish its current run on the West End on June 29th.

The show was initially extended until 2014, however cast members were informed on Wednesday that the show would not be continuing.

It has been reported that the show has made losses of £5 million.

Viva Forever! opened last December to mixed reviews from fans and critics.

The premiere of the musical saw all five band members temporarily reunite for the opening of the show.

Focusing on the journey of four girls who attempt make their career on a satirical X Factor show in a band called Eternity.

However the musical has struggled with fans and critics, who failed to be impressed by the show, with many disappointed that the plot didn’t involve any of the Spice Girls as characters.

Despite a revamp to the show, Viva Forever! failed to improve ticket sales.

The band released a joint statement earlier today:  “Although Viva Forever! won’t continue in the West End, we are thrilled that the thousands of people who came to the show had as much fun as we did”.

Jennifer Saunders and members of the group have yet to add further comment on today’s announcement.
