The song Someone Like You was written about an ex-boyfriend, as were the other songs on her latest album 21. This song spent four weeks at number one in February, it also returned to number one in March for one week. This is now the biggest selling single of the decade and this is likely to be a record which will not be beaten for some time.
In 2009 two other songs sold more than one million copies, these were Poker Face by Lady Gaga and I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. Adele is understood to be absolutely fantastic achievement and her popularity continues to grow.
It is expected that Adele may break another record in the very near future, her latest album 21 has sold over 2.6 million copies and it has also spent sixteen weeks at number one in The Official UK Chart. Her first album which she released, 19, has also doubled the amount of sales it has made with 800,000 copies being sold this year.
