Raise Your Glasses To Pub In The Park

I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that festivals were once a summertime treat, and now they seem to be a year long entertainment indulgence. Sometimes that’s a bad thing, with fierce competition and the credit crunch causing cancellations. One new event hoping to avoid a similar fate is ‘Pub In The Park’, a three day extravaganza in London, celebrating, yes you’ve guessed it, the British Pub.

As branding goes, celebrating a British Institution sounds like a good plan, and the event itself will be packed full of many things we’ve come to associate with our pubs. This is an event all about the community, and is open to friends, families, in fact everyone who wants to join in with the community spirit and all the many attractions offer. There will of course be plenty of food and drink to sample, along with grass roots sport, charity events, music, and other live entertainment.

If that isn’t enough to tempt you, then read on, as we’ve more information right here!

The Music Stage will feature an eclectic mix of British Talent, which includes Americana Bands, a Battle of The Bands Competition from Tuborg, and some of the country’s biggest tribute bands. Listen out for the music of The Beatles, U2, and The Rolling Stones on the Friday. On Saturday take a trip back to the 80’s with the legends that are Go West, Paul Young, ABC, and T’Pau. I’ve seen several of these 80’s stars live before, and I can safely say the Saturday crowd are in for a treat! Then on Sunday it’s time for a celebration of another institution, reality TV, as stars from Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor take to the stage. If all that wasn’t enough, there’s also a Jazz Band Stand, DJ stage, and if you’re brave enough, a Karaoke area!

And there’s more! Once you’ve had your fill of the live music, why not check out the Games Zone, with traditional pub games, pub quizzes, and experts from the world’s of chess and marbles to pit your wits against! There’s also a special kids zone, complete with inflatables and soft play, football skills workshops, magicians, entertainers, and the Village Green. Here you’ll find a quirky and very traditional celebration of pub/village life, with Morris Dancers, a Tug of War, and Welly Wanging among the activities on offer. Throughout the rest of the festival area you’ll find farmers markets, comedians, fringe theatre, beer and wine tasting, and the bar scene. I have to give a special mention to this area as it features something called Bartender Flaring, basically some of the best bartenders showing off their skills, which can be a sight to behold!

There’s so much on offer, you may just have to go back for more! As a concept, providing something for everyone can often be the key to an events success, and I for one hope this is the case with Pub In The Park.

Watch, Listen, Taste, and Enjoy, at Pub In The Park from September 18-20th. The event takes place at Greenwich Park in London. For more information, tickets, and the full line-up of entertainment on offer, please visit www.pubinthepark.com.
