Yes, that’s right folks, it’s all ‘gone a bit Pete Tong’, but we’re not indulging in some cockney rhyming slang here, this is an article to celebrate Pete Tong’s return to UK shores, and his new nationwide tour!
2009 must have been a manic year for the legendary DJ, remixer, and producer, when you consider that his touring schedule took in dates across America, Europe, Australia, and Singapore. No doubt he will also be reflecting on an amazing summer in Ibiza, where his weekly ‘Wonderland at Eden’ night attracted guest stars such as Lady Gaga, and Fatboy Slim. He also found time to move his BBC Radio 1 Show to Fridays (9-11pm), and take on the task of music supervisor for film Harry Brown. Now, after a bit of moonlighting as a remixer for the likes of Cheryl Cole, U2, and Kings of Leon, he is heading back to the day job with this, his current UK tour.
The tour kicked off on February 5th in Hull, and will take in 9 dates in total, visiting some of the nation’s hottest clubs. His return to clubland will continue on the following dates: February 13 – Kellys, Portrush, February 19 – Sankeys, Manchester, February 20 – Liquid, Cardiff, February 26 – The Plug, Sheffield, February 27 – Dakota, Cheltenham, March 12 – The Source Bar, Maidstone, March 13 – Syndicate, Bristol, March 20 – Wonderland, Ministry Of Sound, London.
If you live near any of these venues, then get yourselves along for a great night out, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is all you’ll see, or hear of Pete Tong this year! There’s already talk of a 15 date residency in Ibiza, four more shows at Ministry of Sound in London, an E.P release, and further music projects. In between all this we assume he’ll have room to eat, drink, sleep, and breathe!
