Whilst of late the British band Arctic Monkeys have been criticised for falling from glory the band have shocked many music fans by dominating the NME awards. The band stated that they are very happy with the announcement and hope to be awarded numerous of the awards.

The shortlists for the awards have been decided based on eight million public votes and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at London’s o2 Brixton Academy on February 29th.

The drummer for the Arctic Monkeys, Matt Helders stated that band are delighted to have been nominated for all of the big awards. Nominations for the band include best British band, best live band, best album, best track, best video, best album artwork and most dedicated fans.

Kasabian have also received numerous nominations, including nominations for best British band, live band and greatest music moment.
