New Music At The Green Man Festival!

While everyone likes the big draws at music festivals, those exciting headline acts that make us part with our hard earned cash, it’s nice to see a festival also doing its bit for new music and undiscovered talent as well! The Green Man Festival will once again be running its ‘Green Poll’ to find an act to not only open the festival, but take part in associated press and promotion with top media outlets, gain airplay on Green Man’s youtube channel for a year, and I’ve heard tell there’ll be some free festival tickets for friends and family thrown in as well!!

If this sounds like your kind of opportunity, and you fancy pitting your wits (and songs) against the competition, to gain the public and eventually panel votes, then read on!! The Green Poll is open to any acts or solo singers, of any genre, all you need is a youtube or myspace video of you/your band performing a song.

When you have your chosen video at the ready, head on over to www.greenman.net, and click on the Green Poll button to register and upload your video. Once you’re on the site, you’ll progress to stage two, which is four weeks of public voting. This will reduce all the entrants to a shortlist of ten- five of these picked from the public vote, and five picked by Drowned in Sound Magazine. There will then be another round of public voting, before five acts will battle in out in the live ‘Green Poll Final’ at the Camden Monarch in London on July 8th. The ultimate winner will then be chosen by the panel, and will go on to play at Green Man 2010. As an added incentive, everyone who you can rally to vote for you, has the chance of winning some tickets to the festival too. Not only that, but the festival takes place at the stunning Glanusk Park in the Brecon Beacons, so you’ll get a feast for the eyes as well!

There are already many bands and acts uploading to the site, and rallying support, so if you fancy joining the competition, don’t leave it too long! Visit www.greenman.net for all the information on the competition/festival, and maybe in 2010 it could be you starting the festival off with a bang on August 20th!
