Little Mix have been announced as the winners of the X Factor, they won the music competition after seeing off fellow finalist Marcus Collins. The four girls in Little Mix broke the record of becoming the first band to ever wind the singing competition.

Prior to entering the competition as a group the individuals entered as solo artists but did not make the grade. The judges on the show put the girls together as they believed they would make the perfect girl group.

Simon Cowell is not tipping the group to be a major UK hit and believes they could be as big as the Spice Girls or Girls Aloud.

Fellow finalist Marcus Collins is also being tipped to be successful within the music industry despite not winning the competition.

The single released by the winners, Cannonball, will now battle for the infamous Christmas number one spot.
