Katy Perry Brings Forward ROAR Release Date

Katy Perry has announced that she will be bringing forward the release of new single ROAR in the weekend.

Despite the single already being released in other countries, ROAR was initially due for release in the UK on the 8th of September. However due to popular demand the release of the single has been brought forward to Sunday.

Due to its already overwhemling popularity, many already believe that the single will go straight to number one.

The announcement was made this morning by Katy Perry on her Twitter account, who tweeted “ATTN UK! I’m letting #ROAR out a week early. Go here to pre-order now, & you get the song THIS SUNDAY, September 1! http://po.st/RoarUKiTunes”

Over the past few weeks Katy Perry has released a number of teaser trailers for the single, with each on largely suggesting that her new album / sound will be very different to her Teenage Dream days.

On August 5 the singer released a trailer of a funeral in which people appeared to be mourning the death of Katy Perry. In this instance the coffin is covering the swirly sweets that have become highly associated with the candy / sweet look that Katy Perry modelled during the Teenage Dream tour and album.

Two girls are shown sobbing while wearing wigs similar to those worn the in ‘California Gurls’ video. The camera then cuts to Katy Perry who then winks at the audience.

In the previous trailer the singer was shown to be setting fire to the now iconic blue wig worn by Katy Perry.

After the release of Teenage Dream, Katy Perry went on to release a couple more singles, including ‘Part of Me’ and ‘Wide Awake.’ The two songs differed to songs that had been released from the Teenage Dream album, and after hearing ROAR it sounds as though this is the direction that Katy Perry will be taking her music to.

However the singer has promised that her upcoming album, ‘Prism’ will not contain any darkness, despite what the previous trailers have indicated. ‘Prism’, which will be Katy Perry’s third album is due for worldwide release on the 22nd of October.

Katy Perry will also closing the iTunes Festival on the 30th of September.
