John Newman Tops UK Singles Chart

John Newman has stormed to the top of the charts with his first number one single ‘Love Me Again’.

The debut solo track from Newman sold £125,ooo copies in its first week of release, taking the Rudimental collaborator to the top of the charts.

This is the twelfth consecutive week that a number one single in the UK has sold over 100,000 copies.

Last weeks number one Icona Pop drops down two places to claim the number three spot with the single ‘I Love It’. Meanwhile previous chart topper Robin Thicke takes the number two spot with ‘Blurred Lines’

Naughty Boy and Sam Smith’s collaboration ‘La La La’ remains at number five, while Will.I.Am climbs up one place to the number four spot with ‘Bang Bang’.

Britain’s Got Talent Gabz goes straight in at number six with her debut single (and Britain’s Got Talent favourite) ‘Lighters (The One)’.

In the album charts, Mumford & Sons have reentered the top 10 with their second album ‘Babel’. The move comes following their showstopping performance closing Glastonbury Festival last weekend. Their 2012 album climbed 15 places to reclaim the top spot in their 41st week in the albums chart.

The bands debut album, ‘Sigh No More’ just missed regaining its place in the top 10, by climbing 25 places to number 12.

‘Babel’ sold just 150 copies more than ‘To Be Loved’ by Michael Buble, which rises two places to number two.

The top five is completed by last weeks number one, Tom Odell who dropped to number three with ‘Long Way Down’ and Jake Bugg, who’s self entitled debut album climbs just one place to four.

‘Time’ by Rod Stewart completes the top five.
