James Arthur Takes Number One Spot

The X Factor 2012 winner James Arthur has proved just how popular he is by taking the number one spot in the UK singles charts. Despite the X Factor being hit by viewing ratings this year the support for James Arthur was unprecedented during the show.

The single ‘Impossible’ released by Arthur has become the fastest selling single of 2012. The Official Charts Company revealed that the single sold a total of 490,000 copies.

James Arthur’s debut single has now become the fastest selling X Factor single to be released since the 2008 hit Hallelujah by Alexandra Burke.

Speaking out the singer stated that he would like to thank everybody that had bought his single and made his dreams come true.

The official Christmas number one will be announced next Sunday and it now remains to be seen whether the newly signed singer can hold on to the number one spot. In order to achieve the number one spot at Christmas Arthur will have to fight off tough competition. A version of the Hollies hit He Ain’t Heavy has been released and He’s My Brother will also be competing.

James Arthur will release a new album in the new year and it is expected that this will be a major hit.
