When details of this band came through to music.co.uk, I was sorely tempted to slot that well known James Bond film, ‘From Russia With Love’ into my article. Sadly I couldn’t find a suitable use for it, so instead I simply present Blast, a rock band from Moscow, who seem to be making waves, both in the UK, and Russia, where two of the band originate.
Rumour has it that although Blast have been going for many years, it’s only recently that a new indie/alternative music scene has swept through Blast’s home city of Moscow, and this band are at the very heart of it! The five piece have a few credits to their name, which include NME hailing them as the ‘godfathers of vladrock’, and tour supports for the likes of Blur, Muse, The Strokes, and Supergrass. The band will be bringing their own unique blend of English singing, and indie guitars to the UK in February for a mini tour which heads to London and East Anglia. Gig-goers will be able to rock out to the bands new single ‘Long Love’, and other tracks from their forthcoming album ‘Strange Days Coming’, due to be released in May. You can catch them live at the following dates:
10th Death Disco Notting Hill Arts Club Notting Hill Gate London 8pm FREE ENTRY
11th Barhouse Chelmsford Essex 8pm £3
12th Bush Hall Shepherds Bush London supporting The Rileys 7.30pm £8
