Gliss: Beauty (Single)

Released October 19th

I think it’s a case of beauty by name, beauty by nature, when it comes to the new single by LA based trio Gliss. This band have toured with bands like The Editors, Smashing Pumpkins, The Ravonettes, and Black Motorcycle Club, and in my opinion more than match up to them, and other indie acts like Keane.

Just like Keane, these guys have the ability to create a melody that instantly stirs a reaction in the listener, and soars/swirls around the room. The distorted guitars and percussion are layered well together too, though there isn’t enough distinction between the verses and chorus, which gets a little lost. Lyrically, the story is charming and full of warmth, and performed well by lead singer Martin, but it’s hard to spot the female vocal in there. The overall result though, is a thing of beauty, which I very much enjoyed listening to.

This single it seems, is just the icing on the Gliss cake! Hot on the heels of ‘Beauty’ will be the release of album ‘Devotion Implosion’ in early November, and if this is anything to go by, it’ll be well worth a listen! You can also catch them live across the U.K in November so visit www.myspace.com/gliss for the all important dates, and book your tickets!
