Folk Rockers ‘Levellers’ 25th Anniversary Tour

Brighton folk-rockers Levellers are celebrating their 25th Anniversary by announcing a UK tour and unveiled details of a new 5 Track EP supporting the War Child charity.

The band will be releasing a five-track anti-war EP on 5 May, which features a new recording of ‘The Recruiting Sergeant’ with special guests traditional English folk singers The Copper Family, plus Ben Paley, Shona Kipling and Dan Walsh.

Mixed by Matt Lawrence (Mumford & Sons, Grinderman, Bat For Lashes), the song a contemporary reworking of the cautionary traditional Black Watch anthem, ‘Twa Recruitin’ Sergeants’.

The brand new video to accompany the new release can be found on YouTube, and has been directed and produced by Rich Mulyryne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns1q-DOF5gI).

So far tge Levellers have produced videos for every track on their new album and this new one is the penultimate one to completing the project. The original album version, which is an anti-war song not an anti soldier song, features on their 10th studio album ‘Static on the Airwaves’.

The EP also includes 3 other anti-war Levellers tracks – ‘Another Man’s Cause’, ‘Not In My Name’ and ‘Barrel Of A Gun’ plus the original album version of ‘Recruiting Sergeant’. All profits from the EP release will be donated to War Child, the charity for children affected by war and set up to protect children living in the world’s most dangerous war zones.
