Remember those dim and distant days of your childhood, when you’d ask mum and Dad for the latest Football, Blue Peter, or Pop Star Annuals for Christmas? Well it appears that Annuals are no longer consigned to Childhood memories thanks to the people behind The Festival Annual.
This exciting new project will be released digitally this summer, and will be in bookstores in time for Christmas. As its title suggests, it’s been created to celebrate one of the U.K’s passions, that of the music festival. The best part about this project is that you could be in it, well you’re photo’s could anyway. Recognising us Brits are also great fans of photo sharing, Festival Annual has teamed up with Myspace to offer festival fans across the U.K the chance to upload their summer festival pictures and stories, for possible inclusion in the book. Every person contributing will get a name check, but it’s the best pictures and stories which will feature across the pages of the Annual. These will be joined by a host of celebrity contributors, which include Orbital, Sean Rowley, and Edith Bowman. Look out for them in among chapters on all the key festivals, including Isle of Wight, and Glastonbury.
Sounds good doesn’t it? And you can be a part of it, so don’t forget to visit/join www.myspace.com/festivalannual to start uploading. You may also spot the Festival Annual team in the crowds at some of this summers festivals, promoting the book, and the monthly prizes available in the Festival Annual Awards. They may even sneak backstage as well to encourage more celebrity involvement. If all this wasn’t enough, 10% of the profits from sales generated by the final product will go to Oxfam. It must surely be one of the best ways to immortalise the U.K Festival Spirit, and I for one look forward to seeing the book.
