X Factor Returns for Another Year

Music fans across the UK will have been thrilled this weekend as the X Factor returned for its ninth season. The show will follow the usual format and it is hoped that a star will be discovered; the producers of the show have promised the watchers that this year it will be an “amazing show”.

ITV have stated that the X Factor will continue to focus on the music rather than anything else.

The judges have remained almost the same apart from the new addition of the former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger. Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos remain on the show and they will battle it out in order to make their artist win the competition.

In previous years the television series has been one of the most watched out of all of the channels. Although the opening night of the X Factor for this year did not achieve the viewing figures that had been hoped or expected.

Some of the current biggest names in music have made their careers of the back of the television show.

One Direction, JLS and Alexandra Burke are just some of the artists who originally started out on the television series.

Since the departure of the creator of the show, Simon Cowell, viewing figures have decreased and many fans have questioned whether the show is still the same.

It remains to be seen how the X Factor series of 2012 will perform; as usual the winner of the show will battle it out for the Christmas number one slot.
