DSCF Gives Pupils The Ultimate Music Lesson!

The Dept of Schools, Children, and Families are always looking for new ways to get school pupils involved in music, and they may just be onto a winner with the launch of their latest project ‘Tune In: Year Of Music’. This scheme will run through the 09/10 school year, and will see the DSCF work with organisations like The Brit School, Gibson, The Royal Opera House, The Disney Channel, and The UK Arts Council.

The project will be launched at 12.30pm today, and will give the lucky pupils of Twyford CE High School the ULTIMATE music lesson. Hosted by Konnie Huq, the event entitled ‘First Class’ will feature performances from VV Brown, Jamie Cullen, and Killa Kela. These project ambassadors aren’t the only ones involved in this project either. To highlight how diverse the music world is, a whole host of stars have been signed up to get involved. The list includes Lily Allen, Simon Cowell, the cast of West End Musical Wicked, Guy Chambers, The English National Ballet, and Vanessa Mae. During the Ultimate Music lesson pupils may, well see inspirational videos from these and other artists involved in the project. It won’t just be Twyford School joining in with all the fun though, the lesson will be streamed to schools throughout the country, and pupils will get the chance to question the stars performing at the launch too.

This exciting and inspirational event will be followed by Dawn Chorus of Junior Music Ensembles in Newcastle, and a Mobile Symphony with Jaz Coleman and Gabriel Prokofiev in Plymouth. After that the project will begin in earnest, with events and activities planned across the country for the rest of the school year. To find out more visit http://www.dscf.gov.uk/tunein
