One Direction, the former X Factor contestants, have shot to fame within the UK and have quickly become one of the most popular bands in the country. The boy band have now extended their fame to the US where they are doing exceptionally well. The band has become the first ever British group to hit the number one spot in the US with their debut album.

The album, Up All Night, which only reached the number two spot in the UK back in December has sold over 176,000 copies in the US in order to take the number one spot.

One Direction formed as a band after initially entering the X Factor as five solo artists.

Popular band member Harry Styles revealed that the number one in the US was a dream come true for the band.

After the television series the music mogul Simon Cowell quickly signed the band to his record label and he has said that the band deserves all of the success that they achieve. He went on to say that the band has the best fans in the world.

One Direction, made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have also just secured their own television show in the United States.

The band has recently been busy promoting their US tour which is anticpated to be a major hit.

Fellow British boy band The Wanted are currently working in the US and they are also celebrating great success.
