One Direction in Lawsuit

One Direction are making the headlines in the UK and in the US for all of the right reasons. The young boy band are currently becoming a major hit in the US and they have defied the usual expectations of British bands in America.

In past weeks it has been reported how well the band performing; they have recently completed sell out tours in the US and also recently in the UK.

Although whilst it seemed that nothing could go wrong for the band it now appears that the band are being sued by a small Californian pop-rock group. The small group are claiming that One Direction have infringed on a trademark by using the same name as their band.

The band from California are now attempting to create a major lawsuit against Syco Entertainment and Sony Music to prevent the British band using the name. It is believed that the Californian band would like the name to be stopped being used on all promotional material and they also want a share of the profits already created.

The British band members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles were placed in the group when on the UK version of the X Factor.

It is expected that Simon Cowell will now have his best legal team on the case in order to fight the battle for the name ‘One Direction’.
