When it comes to Irish music acts, there’s always a common pattern. Succeed in Ireland, then try and do the same in the UK. So this March Irish chart toppers Delorentos head over the Irish Sea, and unleash their debut single S.E.C.R.E.T on the public.

This song is apparently about “secret, on tour relationships”, which are chronicled through some interesting lyrics, such as ‘shadows at my feet are vultures overhead”. Some listeners may be left guessing at just what the band have been up to on the road, while others will be dancing away to the music. The band seem to be hitting the right notes here, with a heavy electronic/synth driven sound. This indie/punk fusion seems quite current, though a bit too heavy and lyrically repetitive for my tastes. That said, it did grow on me after a few listens, and I can picture hoards of teenagers and twenty somethings singing along at gigs.
