The majorly successful UK band Coldplay has been announced as achieving the highest selling rock album and single of 2011 in the UK. The band achieved the best selling rock single with their it Paradise, it was awarded this title after it sold more than 410,000 copies. This information has been announced by the Official Charts Company which is responsible for compiling the official music charts throughout the UK.

Second to the Paradise single released by Coldplay was the track Iris recorded by The Goo Goo Dolls. This success is mainly thanks to the song being performed on the X Factor by Frankie Cocozza.
In fourth place was another British star, Birdy took this position with a cover of Skinny Love, originally recorded by Bon Iver. This song sold 259,000 and this was beaten by another Coldplay single, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, which sold 274,000.

Coldplay were also awarded with the best selling rock album in the UK for 2011 after Mylo Xyloto sold more than 908,000. This is the fifth studio album that has been recorded by the UK band.
Former Oasis front man Noel Gallagher also achieved well in 2011 after selling 492,000 copies of his album High Flying Birds.

It has also been reported that numerous stars have performed extremely well within the United States; such individuals include Adele and Michael Buble.
