Beyonce has revealed her cover of the late Amy Winehouse’s iconic track, ‘Back to Black’. The singer has joined forces with Andre 3000 for their version of the classic Winehouse song, which will feature on the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby.

Directed by Baz Luhrmann, The Great Gatsby will be in cinemas next month, after its original release was pushed back. The film, which comes from the same director of Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge, follows the life of Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby in 1920’s New York.

A 40 second snippet of the ‘Back to Black’ cover can be heard at the opening of the third, extended Great Gatsby trailer, which stars Leonardo Dicaprio and Tobey Maguire. The track offers a more soulful and slower tempo than the original Winehouse version which begins with vocals by Andre 3000. Only a handful of lyrics are heard from Beyonce in the 40 second song teaser. Fans will have to wait until the release of the official soundtrack next month to hear the singers full version of ‘Back to Black’.

This is not the first time Beyonce has contributed to a film soundtrack, with the singer releasing the soundtrack ‘Work It Out’ for Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002. Beyonce also stared in the film as Foxxy Cleopatra.

Luhrmann’s interpretation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic text also features contributions from Lana Del Ray, Jack White and Florence and the Machine, who can also be heard in the three minute long trailer. Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z, who is behind the music in the film, has also contributed his own original song for the films soundtrack.
