Bens Brother:Apologise

Single Review

Artist: Ben’s Brother

Title: Apologise

Ben’s Brother, AKA Jamie Hartman, unleashes this slab of radio-friendly pop in the run-up to the release of his new album Battling Giants. Co-written with Aussie songstress Natalie Imbruglia, it has a soaring chorus that reminds me a little of Everywhere by Michelle Branch.

After the success that came following the singles Rise, Let Me Out and Kiss Me Again (Stuttering), Ben’s Brother remain on safe, familiar territory which at best is like a cheap take on an uplifting Take That song. I don’t mean to sound harsh but it’s all a little watered down and weak.

Jamie Hartman was nominated for an Ivor Novello (losing out to Amy Winehouse) but after several listens it doesn’t sound like he’s capitalised on the attention thrown on his career or taken advantage of the musical creativity this kind of attention could afford him.

Having said all this, it’s all very harmless and I’m sure your mum will love him.

The single Apologise and its parent album Battling Giants are both available to buy or download now. Check the following links;
