Annie Lennox to receive Award

The legend Annie Lennox will be awarded with a prestigious accolade, the o2 Silver Clef Award, it will be presented at the yearly Nordoff Robbins Awards Lunch.
The award is being granted on the basis of the recognition of the contribution towards UK music which Lennox has made. It will reward Annie, a former Eurythmics singer, with the award for her exceptional lifelong commitment to music and also the achievements which she has achieved globally.
Lennox is regarded by many as on the most successful females artists to have ever been featured within the UK music charts, with sales of her records exceeding 80 million. Many of her songs she has written herself, she has had numerous chart hits, has been awarded several Brit awards and was also awarded several Grammy awards with the band.
After being successful with the band, Lennox went on to have a solo career which was also remarkably successful. Her debut album, Diva, hit the market in 1992 and sales exceeded eight million copies. In recent times, November 2010, Annie released another album, A Christmas Cornucopia which reached the Top 20 of the UK charts.
Annie is understood to be honoured at receiving the award and is looking forward to picking it up. The charity which has awarded it uses music in order to transform lives of people throughout the UK. Speakers on behalf of the charity have stated that they could not think of anybody more worthy of receiving the award than Annie Lennox; they added that her contribution to music has made a difference on a global scale.
At the award ceremony for the Silver Clef awards in 2010 the winners included Muse, JLS and Dizzee Rascal. Numerous other giant stars have received awards from the charity, Annie Lennox will now follow in the footsteps of The Who, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Sting, Paul McCartney, Sting, Kylie Minogue and Take That.
The awards ceremony will be held on July 1st at the Hilton Hotel in London on Park Lane. The event is expected to attract some of the biggest names in music and also some of the people who have been helped by the charity. Arists who are to perform at the ceremony are yet to be announced but it has been stated they will of worldwide claibre. Annie Lennox will receive her award on this date.
