Music artist Amy Winehouse has died at the age of just twenty seven, her body was discovered at her home in Camden in North London. The star who has battled with drug and drink problems for several years has struggled to cope in recent times. The police have announced that they are treating her death as unexplained although it is believed that the singer died from a suspected drug overdose.

Suggestions are being made that the singer purchased numerous different drugs including cocaine and ecstasy the day before she was discovered. The singers body was found on Saturday by The London Ambulance Service.

The ambulance service had been called to the singers flat at 4pm but when they arrived the singer was described as being already beyond help and there was therefore nothing the paramedics could do.

The police have announced that an inquiry will now commence in order to establish why the singer died. The police person in charge of the investigation Superintendent Raj Kohli revealed that he could confirm that the body of a twenty seven year old woman which was discovered and pronounced dead at the scene was that of Amy Winehouse.

A section of the street where Winehouse lived has now been cordoned off as many fans have flocked there in order to pay their respects. The death of the music star has come to a shock to many people, despite her suffering from serious health problems in recent times due to her addiction to drink and drugs.

When the death of the singer was announced by the media there was speculation surrounding whether he father Mitch had been informed. At the time of the news breaking the singers father was on a British Airways flight to New York where he was due to perform in a jazz concert.

The death of the artist has come after numerous difficult points in her music careers. For example last month the artist cancelled all tour dates, this decision was made after numerous erratic performances she had displayed in the past. In many cases fans had been left mad and upset after Winehouse slurred her lyrics and in some cases was unable to finish her performances.

Winehouse was signed to the Universal record label who have released a statement stating they are very sad about the sudden loss of a gifted musician, artist and performer.
