Singing sensation Adele had an amazing 2011, despite having numerous problems towards the end of the year. Adele had suffered from serious throat injuries which meant her singing career was at risk at one point.
The singer vowed to move on from her illness and to have a fantastic 2012; in 2011 Adele became one of the biggest singers in the whole of the music world.
The success of Adele has been proven after she was awarded six prizes at the prestigious Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The singer from the UK was awarded prizes for achievements include record, song and album of the year.
As well as taking home six prizes the artist also made her live comeback at the ceremony. This is the first time that the artist has performed since having throat surgery.
Other major winners at the ceremony included the Foo Fighters who were awarded five prizes and rapper Kanye West who was awarded four.
In a sensational series of announcements Adele was awarded every Grammy Award that she had been nominated for. These included record of the year, song of the year and best short form music video; this was awarded for popular song Rolling in the Deep. The artist was also awarded with a Grammy prize for her second album 21 which was announced as album of the year.
The whole vent was somewhat downbeat after the shock announcement of the death of music sensation Whitney Houston.
