Adele has successfully achieved yet another record, the artist has now sold ten million copies of her second album in the United States. The album, 21, has now become the third fastest diamond seller in Soundscan history.
The British music star has now become the first ever female from Britain to sell ten million copies of an album in the United States. Adele has managed this impressive milestone just two years after the album was launched. The album has also become the third fastest selling diamond plated album since the Nielsen Soundscan was established in 1991.
Two other albums have managed to pass the ten million mark this year, these were Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory and Usher’s Confessions. Proving just what an achievement Adele has accomplished is demonstrable through the fact that Linkin Park’s album took twelve years to sell ten million copies and Usher’s album took eight years.
The last album to achieve ten million sales within two years was back in 2000, this was No Strings Attached released by N Sync.
The second album released by Adele is the fifth bestselling album of all time in the UK.
At present the artist is on a break from music after giving birth to a baby boy recently, although the artist is likely to return to music in the near future.
