As any UK music chart follower will be aware Adele has continuously been hitting the headlines recently after she has broken numerous records with her second album ‘21’. Pop sensation Adele released this album, which follows her hit debut album ‘19’, after she created songs which had been inspired by a break up with an ex partner. This album has had amazingly high sales and music critics have been quick to praise the artist for such an emotional yet popular album.
This week the singer has maintained her number one spot within the UK album charts; this is now the 13th week that the album has featured at number one. Even more amazingly, Adele’s debut album has moved up three places to the number two spot. This now means that the solo artist is now firmly holding the number one and the number two spot within the UK album charts, this is despite numerous new album releases from highly recommended music acts.
Adele has already broken numerous records during the time that the album has been at number one, this includes the record for being the longest album at the top for consecutive weeks; Adele gained this record after the album remained at the top for eleven weeks consecutively.
Two weeks ago Adele was knocked off the top spot for just one week by the American rockers the Foo Fighters, their new album Wasting Lights is now sitting at number four within the UK music charts.
Fans of Adele are now hoping that she will continue to work on her music and that she will release a new album in the coming years. Music industry experts have praised Adele for creating two albums, which are marketable to a very wide audience, something that is notoriously difficult to do within the UK music industry.
The singles chart was topped by LMFAO with Lauren Bennett and Goonrock this week; this is the bands third week at number one; proving that their song is likely to be a large summer track.
A new release by Bruno Mars, The Lazy Song, was a high mover; it moved thirteen places in order to occupy the number two spot.
Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull continues to reside in number three, with this song also looking to be a heavily used summer track.
