British super star Adele has been awarded three American Music Awards but she failed to attend the awards ceremony. By many of the American papers Adele is being reported as a no-show, although the artist continues to suffer from illness. The American Music Awards are regarded as one of the most prestigious in the music industry.

Southerner Adele was awarded the Best Female Pop Artist award, the Best Album award for 21 and the Top Adult Contemporary Performer award. Adele was unable to attend the awards ceremony as she continues to recover from recent throat surgery.

Adele continues to be one of the biggest winners at music awards across the globe and she continues to be a major success within the music industry.

Whilst Adele was one of the big winners at the event she missed out on the Artist of the Year award. To many peoples surprise the award was presented to country singer Taylor Swift instead.

Nicki Minaj was also recognised at the awards ceremony after she was presented with awards for Favorite Rap Artist and Best Hip Hop album. Minaj also opened the awards ceremony with her very own rendition of Super Bass.

Other winners at the awards ceremony included Foo Fighter, Jennifer Lopez and Casting Crowns. To many peoples surprise popular artists Lady GaGa and Lil Wayne were left empty handed.
