6 Music has attracted a record audience and the popularity of the radio show continues to grow strongly. The radio show has become so popular that it is now one of the most listened to shows in the UK.
The BBC digital station has hit an all time high with around 1.5 million listeners tuning it, although whilst 6 Music is seeing its popularity rise Radio 5 has lost almost a million listeners.
6 Music was almost axed by the bosses by of the BBC but now on the eve of its 10th birthday it has attracted a fantastic number of 1.5 millions listeners.
The presenters for the show include Lauren Laverne, Jarvis Cocker and Guy Garvey the frontman of Elbow. Figures recently released show that the station had an average of 1.44 million viewers in the last three months of 2011.
On the 11th March the show will be ten years old and this is fantastic news ahead of its birthday.
When the BBC did threaten to axe the show there was great annoyance shown by fans, with many of them protesting.
6 Music is now likely to be kept as it proves to be one of the more successful digital radio stations at the BBC.
