Paul Carrack was once described by the Independent as one of the U.K’S most underrated songwriter’s. Well if that’s the case, he’s not doing too badly from that title. In a career that’s so far lasted 40 years, Paul has made guest appearances on over 60 albums, written and released his own material, and written songs for some of the biggest names in the business, including Tom Jones and Diana Ross. Paul Carrack isn’t just a songwriter though; he loves to tour, and if recent reports are anything to go by, it’s business as usual in 2009, which is already shaping up to be a great year.
News just into music.co.uk confirms 4 live dates that cover May and July, where he will share the stage with another music legend, The Eagles. Fans of Paul Carrack will know that he has a longstanding friendship with the band, for which he has written several songs over the years. This will be the first time they have both performed at the same show together, and promises to be an exciting event. The dates are 29th May in Sweden, 30th May in Denmark, 4th July in Glasgow, and 18th July in the Netherlands.
For now Paul will be sharing with The Eagles, but he might end up sitting alongside them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in America one day, if his other recent new announcement is anything to go by. For it seems the singer-songwriter is also making his mark on the American Market, just like The Eagles have done before him. Paul’s song ‘No Doubt About It’ was labelled ‘Number 1 Most Added’ to the Adult Contemporary radio playlists, and debuted at number 81 on the overall American airplay chart. His musicianship and distinctive voice have also been a big hit in the U.K on independent radio and BBC Radio 2 playlists.
2009 has got off to a great start for Paul Carrack, but I have a feeling the story doesn’t end here, so make sure you visit www.carrack-uk.com to keep updated. Paul’s latest solo album ‘I Know That Name’ is out now, with a special DVD/Bonus Live CD package available from 25th May 2009.
