    Essential Music Festival

    PRESS RELEASE :

Without a doubt one of the best music festivals in Britain, the Essential Music Festival features three days of top-quality, cutting-edge music. This year the event celebrates its 12th birthday at Bristol's picturesque Ashton Court Estate.

Each day of the long Bristol weekend bash represents a different clubbing experience, featuring DJs and live acts on several different stages - choose between them or go for broke and do the whole weekend!

The event kicks off with a Dance Day on 4 May, celebrating everything from drum & bass and hip-hop to house and techno. The line-up includes chart-topper Busta Rhymes and veterans De La Soul, together with Sonique, the almighty Judge Jules, Tall Paul and Roni Size.

The weekend continues with the Indie/Rock Day on 5 May, featuring Supergrass, Shed Seven and the Levellers, together with a host of other top names and DJs.

Bringing the events to a close is Roots Day on 6 May, which celebrates black and roots music and showcases the finest soul, jazz, roots and reggae. This year's highlight is undoubtedly the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, and the day also offers award-winners Asian Dub Foundation, Nitin Sawhney, Culture and Max Romeo.

From the very beginning, Essential has set the standard for dance festivals, with explosive line-ups of top DJs and live performers. It certainly attracts the best in the business and is sure to be a roaring success.

very cool festival - i can assure you and thats without the essential brand - been going for years - major thing in bristol's event calender.

and -Hotflush - my promotion in Bristol put an a free after party for the festival goers 3 years ago and it went of with a bang - had deekline/hyperacktive, dom da bom, ragga d, daz&hotrock down.

the walk up the hill to ashton court is MILITANT though. if the weather is good - best place to be.

no garage this year though.....wonder why?

My mates went to the Hackney marshes one last year, and it was empty.....

I'm sure the Bristol one is a lot better, events outside of London are appreciated a lot more. No UK Garage Dj's on the line up, do you reckon there is paranoia in the air?
